In professional beauty, few names command as much respect as Charlie Price. A past winner of the coveted Hairbrained Awards, Charlie is not only a celebrated hairstylist but also an influential platform artist and educator known for his irreverent yet informative style. With a career spanning across the globe, Charlie has left an indelible mark, winning prestigious awards like NAHA North American Hairstylist of the Year twice, being the inaugural NAHA People's Choice award recipient, and earning recognition as the Canadian Mirror Awards International Hairstylist of the Year. His talents have graced the pages of global publications, and he has worked with leading haircare manufacturers.

As we celebrate Charlie's achievements, we also look forward to the upcoming Hairbrained Awards. This annual event, set to take place March 3, 2024, gathers the brightest talents in the hairstyling industry, offering them a chance to showcase their artistry and innovation. Could you share a memorable moment or highlight from your journey with the Hairbrained Awards that has stayed with you over the years?

I always love the crowd at HVA - it's a quirky hip mix of talented hairdressers - a room full of people I respect.

In your opinion, what are the key qualities that set a Hairbrained Awards submission apart and make it stand out to the judging panel?

It must be bold - brisk -brief - technical - witty - and be spiked with just enough subversion to seduce the HVA judges.

What role do you see Hairbrained and similar platforms playing in the future of the beauty and hairstyling industry?

Hairbrained is always ahead of the curve and it continues to be an oasis of high level education - a source for the best quality tools - and a way to find out about the coolest international hairdressers.

Do you have any exciting projects or upcoming ventures that you'd like to share with the Hairbrained community and our audience?

I'm doing a lot of my own photography - and videos ( I am filming my own HVA entries on my phone this year as I did last year) and I have joined the Haute Coiffure Francaise American Team - I'm looking forward to many beauty adventures with new people.

How do you balance your creative pursuits and professional growth with the demands of the industry and your personal life?

After 35 years of hair I am semi-retired from behind the chair.  I only see clients two days a week - so I have plenty of time to dilly dally with content creation.  I love social media because my pages reflect/ contain elements of all my interests - beauty, fashion, art, graphic design, pop culture and politics.

What are your thoughts on the impact of social media and digital platforms in shaping the careers of today's hairdressers and artists?

It is vital - it is our window on the world - it has given everyone a voice - I love it. My favorite part is searching for new creatives in fashion, beauty,  photography and art.

How can people find out more about you?

I like to keep a certain amount of mystery to my image - the idea of being an enigma who doesn't share every detail of my life appeals to me. Having said that - Private message me! I love interaction and answer each and every one of my messages myself -even if it's filtered I'll eventually figure that out too and reply! 😜🤪
