Could you share a memorable moment or highlight from your journey with the Hairbrained Awards that has stayed with you over the years?

When I was at the Hairbrained Awards in NYC and someone I really respected came up to me and said they loved my video! You never know who sees your stuff and when someone tells you they like it, that's rewarding. When I post most of the time I wonder if anyone will see it.

Can you describe your creative process when working on a Hairbrained Awards submission? What inspires your unique concepts and designs?

I like to take something everyone is familiar with and then turn the idea around and make it different in some way. So I'm trying to grab some nostalgia and modernize it or twist it awkwardly so it's classic AND fresh. Sometimes I succeed, often times I don't but that's where the fun is.

What role do you see Hairbrained and similar platforms playing in the future of the beauty and hairstyling industry?

Sometimes I feel that the beauty industry separates into little divisions but platforms like Hairbraind does a great job of bringing people together under the common banner of hair. I like that.

Do you have any exciting projects or upcoming ventures that you'd like to share with the Hairbrained community and our audience?

In the past the way the industry worked was you went to beauty school, graduated and then apprenticed under someone, now with the lack of mentoring being available, Douglas McCoy and I are working on making quality mentoring available to more people. Should be available soon!

What are your thoughts on the impact of social media and digital platforms in shaping the careers of today's hairdressers and artists?

The social media world has broken through and given everyone an equal platform to share their work and talent with the entire beauty community. Sure, if shows the underbelly at times, but for the most part it shares how truly wonderful the beauty business is as a whole.

Where can people find more about you?
